Kay Villalobos' Auspicious Spirits at National Steinbeck Center
October 18, 2008 – January 11, 2009
The exhibition, which will run through January 11th, 2009, features Villalobos' magically mystical 3-D assemblages that merge collage art onto mannequins of female torsos. Villalobos' celebrations of the female form are striking representations of femininity, fertility, and motherhood. She believes that art can spring out of sorrow and misfortune, and that the creative spirit creates new and ever-evolving methods of expression. Admission to the gallery is included with entry to the National Steinbeck Center ($10.95 for adults, with discounts for seniors and children).
Members of the National Steinbeck Center, media, and guests of the artist are invited to a reception with the artist on Friday, October 17th, 2008 from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. celebrating the opening of Kay Villalobos' exhibition: Auspicious Spirits. |
